Now that you have reviewed the content and options in the Main window and the Contacts window, you are ready to start placing calls with Skype.
To dial a speed-dial number when the default mode is set to USB, just dial the number followed by the hash key (#). Skype will attempt to make the connection ring the telephone (or Skype client) at the other end.
Example 2.2. Using speed dial with default mode set to USB
If Skype's "echo123" call testing service has been assigned a speed dial number of 99, you would call it by dialing as follows:

To call an ordinary telephone number via SkypeOut when the default mode of the telbox is set to USB, dial 00 followed by the country code, followed by the local area code (omitting any leading zeros), followed by the telephone number.

To call ticket master in the UK, you would dial:

Tip
When the default mode is set to USB, you can call your Skype contacts by picking up the phone, clicking on the person's name in the Skype main window, and clicking to dial as you would normally in Skype. The call will be routed to the handset, and you can hang up in the usual way to end the call.
To dial a number when the default mode is set to PSTN, begin by pressing the star key (*), and waiting for a new dialtone from Skype. After you hear the new dialtone, enter the number and place your call by pressing the hash key (#). To cancel or terminate a call, just hang up in the normal way. For speed dial numbers, just dial the number, followed by #. If you are signed up for SkypeOut and wish to place a call to an ordinary telephone via Skype, dial 00, followed by the country code, followed by the local area code (omitting any leading zeros), followed by the telephone number.

If Skype's "echo123" call testing service has been assigned a speed dial number of 99, you would call it by dialing as follows:

Important
Dialing through the GUI for a call to be taken on the telephone as suggested in the tip above may not work as expected when PSTN is set as the default.
